Man sentenced for attack in Belleville and linked abduction case
Bert Collins also known as Rock Island Red was sentenced by District Judge Kennett to five to ten years in Lansing for a criminal attack on four year old Myra Goodwin of Belleville. Kansas City detectives arranged to move Collins for questioning in the Nadine Vogel Love case. Collins, 52, claimed no definite home and called himself a citizen at large.

A Model A Ford driven by Jessie James of Belleville struck a concrete culvert north of Scandia about 1 am Sunday. Occupants Doris and Hazel Doyle, Jessie James, two youths Williams and Bell of Belleville, and Yvonne Stromberg of Republic were injured and treated by Dr. C V Haggman in Scandia. The driver disappeared after the crash.

K Gust Aberg 77 died at his Scandia home after living in the area since 1880. Aberg helped settle the community with farmers near Scandia. He lived in town recently. Funeral services were held from the family home and Lutheran Church with Rev. Chas Pehrson leading. Interment followed at Lutheran cemetery.

County Track Meet Held at Belleville

Boy Injured in Fall at Scandia School Playgrounds
