Wolford Farmer Ends Life At Home Near Watson
William Wolford a former farmer shot himself last Wednesday at his home near Watson after his son went to get groceries. He was found dying in the road in front of the residence with a 16 gauge shotgun and a wire attached to the trigger. Family attributes his poor health to the suicide.

Bakery Sale Ends Ray Chilcott Era in Concordia
Ray Chilcott sells the Scan dia Bakery equipment to Victor Hoar of Concordia and will turn over possession Monday. Chilcott operated the shop ten years and since losing a leg has left active work. Hoar brings bakery experience from Concordia and Plainville. Johnsons previously leased the equipment. The deal closed Tuesday.

Former Resident Mrs. Loofburrow Dies in Westmoreland
Word arrived of the death Sunday of Mrs. Guy Loofburrow of Westmoreland known locally as Kate Smith before marriage. Dr. Loofburrow was one of the early outstanding dentists in the community. Residents extend sympathy to the family amid the bereavement as Mrs. S. W. English suffers flu at home.

Final Dividend Declared by Citizens State Bank of Republic
On March 4 the Citizens State Bank of Republic will pay a final dividend bringing total payments to 78.8 percent to depositors. A final refund of 4200 dollars or 3.8 percent will aid the Republic community after the bank failed on July 18, 1932.

The Kansas Power Co. will reduce residential and commercial rates effective March 1, 1937. New schedules set 1.00 for the first 11 kWh, 9c for next 19 kWh, 5c for next 50 kWh, and 3c for excess with minimums of 1.00 or 2.00 per meter. Scandia Boys Fall Twice to Courtland Court
Courtland high school defeated Scandia in two games at Courtland on February 10. Courtland led 43 to 15 in the first game with Pemeeet and Peterson scoring 22, while the Scandia second team lost 14 to 11. The town matchup ended Courtland ahead 52 to 23.
