Sigsbee murder case goes to court next Monday
Earl B Swarner assistant attorney general of Kansas will be in Belleville next Monday Feb 17 to assist county attorney Frank G Spurney in the opening and prosecution of the Sigsbee murder case. It is not yet known which defendant will be tried first but Edith Carter is believed to be first. Forty jurors have been empanelled for the February term with several civil cases also to be tried.

Despite cold weather the event drew a good crowd with well chosen characters and wholesome entertainment. Mrs Lena Lloyd gave a standout performance as Mrs Brown who starts the gossip leading to a neighbor's funeral plan. A vocal duet by Mrs Paul Doctor and Patty Lou in men's dress with black mustaches added flair. Peggy McGregor delivered a humorous reading with notable costume and timing.

Nellie Henchen Dies in Long Beach California
Nellie Henchen, widow of an August deceased husband, died Sunday night at her Long Beach home after her son Douglas, at Butte college, fell ill in Montana. Born in Sherdahl Kansas, she lived in Scandia and Vancouver before 1890. Survived by four sisters and many relatives. Funeral held at 3:00 PM, burial beside her husband in the Angels mausoleum in Los Angeles.
