A 16 year old Laclede youth was shot and killed by his sister while handling guns at home. The sister Patricia 18 and brother Bill Foster were present. The shot fired from five feet struck Foster in the back and he died at Bonner General Hospital after noon.
John Re reported his 1970 Datsun pickup stolen from the Forest Service parking lot at Highway 200 and Division Street sometime Friday. Police investigated the theft in Priest River.
A GMC pickup owned by Sidney Trimble of Oregon City Oregon was reported stolen from a private Garfield Bay residence on Saturday afternoon.
A collision on Highway 200 near Kootenai Saturday morning involved a 1974 Ford Torino driven by Roland W. Derr to the west and a 1975 Ford pickup driven by Bonnie Jean Spade from Whiskey Jack road. Estimated damage totaled 700 dollars.
Sandpoint residents face a decisive vote on a 15 million water bond tied to a Farmers Home Administration grant. If approved, water rates will rise for city and surrounding areas to fund a 2 million gallon storage tank, new mains, a filter plant, and transmission lines.

Bob Holt a 20 year old who dresses as a mallard to advertise a radio station was attacked on a downtown Seattle street by a 6 foot bearded man wearing an English driving cap. Holt said the assailant grabbed his wing pulled off the duck head and struck him with it causing minor injuries and $50 in costume damage.
Idaho State Budget Director Harlan W. Turner resigned after confessing to a misdemeanor criminal trespass with alleged sexual overtones. Gov. John Evans announced Turner, 44, will be replaced by Shirl Boyce as he faces probation and mandatory counseling.
Tom Mueller, 25, lost while grouse hunting with two companions in the North Baldy Mountain area Sunday night found his way back to base camp at 10 03 am Monday as a 30 member rescue party with dogs readied to search. He had built a fire, followed logging chainsaw sounds, and was reported missing to Newport police at 7 45 pm Sunday.
Bonner County School Board sends Phase IPRHS construction back to contractor S J Morin Spokane with two minor recommendations Architects West Coeur d Alene to add roofing work and require a two year guarantee for the concrete slab. Phae L plans an 11000 square foot addition to the high school.
Rep. George Hansen said he could not back final passage of the 1977 Farm Bill, calling it a welfare bill with farmers getting scraps. He supported amendments to boost farm income but opposed overall provisions on food stamps and loss of farming freedom.
