Traces of an EPA prohibited herbicide were detected on Idaho potatoes at processing plants. Officials could not identify growers or field locations. The chemical had limited experimental approval last year and is under EPA investigation led by consumer safety officer William Fruetel in Boise.

Man Lost After Bear Chase On Gleason Mountain
Wilbur Rosier a 58 year old Spokane man was chased by a sow and cub bear while picking huckleberries on Gleason Mountain. He lost his way as darkness fell and stayed the night on the mountain before two grouse hunters found him and a forest service forester brought him out.
