The Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce sets its annual membership drive for September 29 starting at 7 30 am with a kick off breakfast at the Elks Club. Solicitations and a noon luncheon will conclude with ballot counting and the announcement of four new directors.

Moose Dinner Supports Bonner County Moose Hunt

Tonight the Bonner County Sportsmen Association hosts its fourth annual Moose Dinner at Community Hall from 5 to 7 30 p.m. The event funds a one week British Columbia moose hunt with proceeds and tickets priced at 5 00, totaling 8 00 with membership. Past winners include Allen Rolfson, Bob Wilcox, Jim Bopp, and guests. non members are urged to attend to sustain the hunt.

Horse Destroyed After Accident Near A and W Stand

Pete Thompson of Bonners Ferry reports his horse went missing and was later hit by a vehicle driven by Jay Collins of Sand Point on Highway 95 near the A and W Root Beer stand. The horse suffered broken rear legs and Thompson asked the Sheriff to dispose of it to spare further suffering. Collins was to file an accident report upon returning from Troy.

Counterfeiter Passes $1 Bill Hidden as $20

Boise sheriff warns of a counterfeit fraud in which a Boise merchant accepted a disguised $20 bill made by pasting the edges of a $20 note onto a $1 bill. The suspect’s method relies on a busy clerk missing the altered currency. The case has been turned over to the Secret Service as defacement of currency is a federal offense.

Rail Man Hurt At Denton Curves Injury At Hope Denton Site

Oliver Nyhr, 57, a rail worker, was injured when a tamper he was operating at the Hope Denton site fell on him yesterday afternoon. He is listed in good condition at the hospital. Details remain limited as the Bonner County Sheriff's Office noted industrial reports are not processed there.

Northern Idaho faces cloudy skies with scattered showers through Saturday. Expect a high near 60 and low around 40 each day, 40 percent rain chance. The pills were birth control pills. children were observed at a hospital overnight and later released.
