Train Derails No Injuries Near Sandpoint
A northbound Union Pacific freight train derailed near Sandpoint after a switch partially opened. Investigators say the incident was intentional. The 60 car train from Spokane to Eastport left the track at 8:15 p.m. at about 15 mph, scattering lumber and folding a freight car. Damage is estimated around $5,000 with 15 crew members clearing the line overnight and delaying other trains.
