Rodeo Weekend Set With PRCA Sanction and Parades

Two day professional rodeo returns to Sandpoint this weekend with PRCA sanction and 1,150 dollar purse. Events include bareback saddle bronc bull riding calf roping steer wrestling team roping and wild horse race. Tickets 2.75 in advance 5 two day advance. at gate 3.50 and 1 for under 12. Parade grand marshal Guy Hesselgesser leads Saturday 10 a.m. procession. Queen Carolyn Bonser and Princess Berle Florey reign.

BCEA Criticizes Trustees Action In Bonner County

The Bonner County Education Association criticized the school board for not accepting a citizen advisory committee's grievance procedure. The board ratified weekend negotiations with the BCEA on salary, benefits, and working hours. Base pay rises to $8,000 with max $12,621 for 10 years and a masters. A budget committee proposal to oversee funding allocation was suggested by Darrel Kenops.

Pend Oreille Lake Drawdown Plans Set to 2.5 Feet

Lake Pend Oreille will be drawn down about 2.5 feet by October 1 under Army Corps of Engineers guidance from Alberi Falls Dam. The decline will occur at roughly 0.1 feet per day as officials seek to manage water levels and address related negotiations at a BCEA school board meeting.

August Rain Sets Record at University of Idaho

August rainfall at the University of Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station totaled 3.13 inches, the rainiest since 1968. The period included 1.16 inches in one day and 1.48 inches across a four day stretch, with Sandpoint noting rarity of such totals in 65 years of records.

Memaloose Sewer District election set for Friday

An election to establish or reject the Memaloose Sewer District and to elect directors will be held Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at Dr. C C Neal Wendle's home on the Samowen Peninsula. Over 80 qualified electors will vote. a legal district description is available from Dr. Wendle or the Bonner County Courthouse.
