A Samuels youth lost control of a vehicle on U S 95 two miles south of Colburn in a single car rollover. The car sustained about 800 dollars in damage but the occupant escaped serious injury. Donald P Burns told Idaho State Trooper Jerald Johnson speed was a factor on the curve and no citation was issued.

Special Film At PTA Meet In Sandpoint Washington School

Rock Drops Kill Graduate Student in California Overpass Incident

A 22-year-old graduate student William Hoyt died at Holy Cross Hospital from injuries after a 50-pound rock was dropped from an overpass onto his car on Peoria Street over freeway in Sun Valley. Passenger Stephene Freed, 22, was hospitalized for shock. Authorities note multiple rocks have been dropped from the over crossing in the past year. IFI Secures Timber Sale in Lightning Creek Area

Idaho Forest Industries of Coeur d'Alene was the high bidder for the Thunder timber sale in the Kaniksu National Forest. The Lightning Creek Drainage area, about 10 miles northeast of Clark Fork, yields white pine and hemlock with minor species. The sale was SBA set aside. appraised value rose from 32 521.60 to 32 546.60 on the 1540 MBE of sawlogs and 0 MBF of pulplogs. Idaho Veneer Company of Post Falls was the only other bidder.
