Andrus Addresses Sandpoint Banquet During Fall Chamber Meet
Idaho Governor Cecil Andrus spoke to more than 200 at the Community Hall for the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce annual banquet and officers installation. He disclosed negotiations with the National Boy Scout Council for a future Jamboree at Farragut. He announced Idaho has applied for 144000 in Federal funds to build permanent water and plumbing facilities at Farragut for large events.

Gov. Cecil D. Andrus said Idaho should not build a Berlin Wall to block Californians and cited smog crime and overpopulation as motives for growth. City worker saved after ditch cave in near Sandpoint
Tim Batt a 20 year old city employee was buried eight feet in dirt at a highway project near the US 95 SH 200 junction. His colleagues Bob Church and Lloyd Allen with Sandpoint police chief George Elliot and officer Gene Holt freed him. He was taken to Bonner General Hospital in satisfactory condition with back and shoulder injuries.
