Dean M. Swanson an 18 year old from Coeur d Alene received a 30 day jail sentence in City Court but the term was suspended and he must not return to Sandpoint for a year. He was also required to cut his long hair before release after pleading guilty to petite larceny involving an attempted theft of recording equipment from a Sandpoint store.
Bonner County Fair Board and Ivan Smith chose the Sandpoint site for the 1971 Bonner County Fair at a community meeting. Changes include new divisions for education and produce booths, a separate dairy goat class, crossbreed dairy cattle, goat shelters, and a partial entry fee idea. 4-H dairy additions, animal fitting by members, and future Fat Stock Committee recommendations were announced.
Absentee ballots are available in Doris L. Kenney office, County Clerk, for the November 3 general election. Voters absent on election day may vote at the Courthouse office Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and October 24 and 31 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The deadline to request absentee voting is November 2 at 5:00 pm. Individuals homebound due to physical problems can call 2164 to arrange voting assistance. Registration is open with 37 registrars in the county, closing October 31 at 9 pm. eligibility requires citizenship for 6 months and county residency for 30 days.
The Sandpoint FFA chapter sent six members Rick Larkins Rich Josman Steve Peters Andy Allard Rick Bricker and Woodie Campbell to Bonners Ferry for the soils contest. They finished fourth with 200 points behind Bonners Ferry 270 Kendrick 230 Tennessee third. Next contest will be in Sandpoint featuring meats crops and farm mechanics.
Jurors are reminded to appear Monday October 26 at 9 30 a m for jury duty per Doris L Kenney Clerk of the District Court.
The eighth annual All Bonney County Bazaar sponsored by the Sandpoint Civic club runs Friday October 23 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday October 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sandpoint Community Hall featuring 30 booths from 7 clubs 3 granges 6 churches and 15 individuals with crafts baked goods and local art.
Congressman and Mrs. Jim McClure tour North Idaho in a leased bus with other candidates. The bus is due in Sandpoint today at 6 15 p.m. and will be at Republican Headquarters on Fifth Avenue at 8 p.m. for a public reception.
Harold Andersen announces McConnaughey’s promotion to Division of Personnel Management Office of the Chief in Arlington Virginia effective November 29 1970 with a December 7 reporting date. She moves into a Salary and Wage Administration Specialist position after long service at Kaniksu National Forest beginning in 1955.
Voters in Edgemere precinct will cast ballots November 3 at the Edgemere Grange Hall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The notice emphasizes a location change for this general election.
