Judge Bans Talk Of Demo and Break-In in Watergate Case
A federal judge issued a sweeping order barring public statements by anyone connected with the Watergate case. Senators and McGovern criticized it as overbroad and possibly unconstitutional. McGovern said he would continue discussing the break-in and bugging, while Sirica said the ban could apply to candidates if needed. The move follows scrutiny from Mansfield Aiken and Patman, with discussions of campaign impact and enforcement. Meanwhile plans for a San Antonio rendering facility were shifted as Nampa company Idaho Animal Products abandons the $2 million plant project.

Senate Kills Agency Bill
Washington and 52-30 vote show Senate fails to invoke cloture on a consumer protection agency bill. Backers admit few votes remain as the 92nd Congress nears adjournment. Senator Frank E. Moss says the measure cannot be stopped. Nixon administration opposes further action. The bill would create an independent agency to argue for consumers before federal bodies.
