Weather Aborts Prisoner's Trip to Blackfoot Idaho

Extreme road conditions near Wallace Idaho forced the return of Deputy Sheriffs Howard Scott and Dave Hare with prisoner John Wesley Redden en route to Blackfoot. Redden, ordered to 60 days psychiatric evaluation, faces charges of Grand Theft Auto, assault with a weapon, and attempted jailbreak from a November escape attempt. He remains in Bonner County Jail until travel resumes.

Robbers Take $220000 From Wells Fargo Truck in Miami

Two armed men wearing white coveralls robbed a Wells Fargo armored truck of 220000 near Pan American Airways cargo office at Miami International Airport ground floor concourse four. The money was en route from First National Bank of Miami to a bank in Freeport Grand Bahama Island and the suspects fled via the airport.

Alexandria Judge James Colosanto Shot at Doorstep

Municipal Judge James N. Colosanto, 62, was shot five times during a knock at his door in Alexandria. He was in critical condition at Old Alexandria Hospital. A white male suspect fled in a dark late model car. two neighbors saw him and investigators seek motive.

Farmin PTA Money Making Project Winners Named

The Beef Drawing at the Farmin PTA meeting on November 17 awarded prizes including hind and front beef quarters, hams, and turkeys to students Jack Young Lola Tucker George Kippstein Jack Jones Brian Schauers Alice Drew and Henry Peterson. Weather Outlook for Sandpoint and Northern Idaho

Sandpoint is cloudy with rain or snow showers today turning to snow tonight and Wednesday. Meanest Crook Foiled in Toys for Toys Break-In

The meanest crook in Sand Point was thwarted last night in an attempt to break into the Lions Club Toys for Toys facility at Larch and Boyer Avenue. The building houses the repair station for donated used toys for needy children this Christmas.

Sandpoint Scouts Win First Aid Contests

Nine teams from North Idaho districts competed in Bonners Ferry for the First Aid Meet. Explorer Ship 100 from Sandpoint won with the highest score, earning a blue ribbon. Other ribbon winners included Troop III Sandpoint, Troop 114 Bonners Ferry, Team 2 Blanchard, Team 2 Bonners Ferry, Team 53 Sandpoint, and more with red and yellow ribbons noted. Officials and judges from Moyie River and Selkirk districts presented awards and praised practical use of common sense.

Stanford youths hurl rocks at science complex

About 100 protesters from an antiwar rally stormed Stanford University’s science complex in California. They split into groups and threw railroad spikes, rocks, and steel ball bearings at windows in six buildings, damaging at least six, with police reporting no arrests as the incident ended within minutes.

Living Cost Jump Ends Nixon Inflation Hopes
