McCumber Injured In Fall On Lake Pend Oreille Fishing Trip
A Spokane KXLY staff group and guests fished on Lake Pend Oreille when Jerry McCumber lost footing on Engert’s barge ladder. He fell twelve feet, spent the night in Bonner General Hospital, then was moved to a Spokane hospital in good condition with a separated shoulder. Announcer Del Lundbom was the only successful angler, catching a snail Dolly Varden.

Light Storm Tops Bonner County Ski Plans

Dale Wilcox Bound Over After Hearing
Dale Wilcox, 18, was bound over to district court on counts of second degree arson and first degree burglary after a preliminary hearing before Judge Margaret Burns in Justice Court. He waived a court appointed attorney but was assigned counsel. He remains jailed in Bonner County with bonds set at 5000 for arson and 2500 for burglary. Michael Taylor faces a 2500 bond on a first degree burglary charge. no date yet for his preliminary hearing. A third juvenile suspect was cited into probate, pleading guilty to malicious destruction of property and minor alcohol use. sentencing is Tuesday in probate court.

Sandpoint Boxers Attend Meet and Seek New Training Quarters
James Berg earned a boxing trophy at the Benefit Boxing Card by the Northeast Neighborhood Youth Center on November 22. Berg defeated a Morning Star Boys Ranch boxer after a knockdown, then lost a close decision. Clyde Schilling and Ernie Bowman also won decisions for the Sandpoint Boxing Club in a 12-bout card with competitors from Lapwai and Morning Star. The club seeks new training quarters in Sandpoint due to unsuitable winter facilities on the Berg ranch.
