Fatalities Rise On Idaho Highways In 1969 Toll
A bloody weekend on Idaho highways pushed the 1969 traffic fatalities to 287, up from 265 a year earlier. Cases include Wyoming woman Charolette Wetchi, 29, killed near Fort Hall after stalling on I 15, and Frank Jenkins, 20, of Idaho Falls, killed on US 191 near Rexburg. Two other crashes near Banks involving Wayne Archer, 56, Boise, and Jimmie King, 22, Horseshoe Bend, left both victims in the Payette River as fog and black ice contributed to the toll.
