Truby Proposes Deputy Supervisor for Idaho District

Steneck Fired Unexpectedly as Idaho Health Official

Steneck, Idaho state mental health coordinator in the Department of Health and Welfare, was fired by Mark Litvin. The 18 year veteran said he will file a grievance and could not comment beyond noting the firing was unexpected.

Funds Assigned To Hope Highway

The Idaho Transportation Board allocates 3 million for two miles of highway at Hope and East Hope and 800000 for a Hope State Highway 200 superstructure next fiscal year. UPI says the plan was approved by the Transportation Board the Federal Highway Administration and the U S Forest Service. The project includes an embankment and a boat basin for Hope on Pend Oreille Lake and 1500000 to build 3 5 miles on the St Joe Highway in Benewah County from Marbelle Creek West. An extra 1000000 in flood relief funds will back the project.

New Sandpoint Chief Heads City Council Agenda

The Sandpoint City Council plans to appoint a new police chief likely Richard Abbott of Riverside California, with duties starting in early December. Also on the agenda is a senior center land proposal on W Main Street backed by Bonner County seniors and aided by $13,500 in revenue sharing funds. James Watson of James KR Watson & Associates will discuss progress on a 100000 square foot shopping center project north of the city.

Sandpoint Proclaims Veterans Day Holiday City Offices Closed

Mayor Les Brown proclaims Monday November 11 as an official Veterans Day holiday in Sandpoint. All city and county offices will close, banks join the observance per the Chamber of Commerce, but some retailers may remain open and shoppers should check with individual stores.
