Tiny Ponderay saw 27 of 35 registered voters cast ballots Tuesday as Jim Milled defeated incumbent Charles Fontaine to become mayor. In the council race Gary Sullivan won unopposed with 27 votes. Gary Tyler secured the second seat with 16 votes, beating George Ruark and Don Shaver.

Lost hunter found in Coos Bay Oregon
Michael Nickerson twenty from Spokane was reported missing after leaving Oct. 26 for a five day hunt in Bonner County near Whiskey Rock. An intensive search by Bonner County Sheriff Robert Wilcox followed word from Spokane authorities that Nickerson had not returned. He was located in Coos Bay with no explanation for missing the trip.
