Mathes Sees Need For More Revenue

Nurses to bid farewell after long Sandpoint service
Two nurses who began at Sandpoint Community Hospital in 1942 retire this week after a Wednesday party in the hospital social room. Lillian Scott from Hope and Osa Lee Konar of 531 North Boyer are veterans. Scott is a 1935 St. Elizabeth's graduate and former nursing supervisor. Konar trained at Oklahoma General Hospital and helped carry the first patient into the Bonner County Hospital at its opening.

Seven year old Karyn Prestwich of North Fork Idaho is undergoing therapy at Shriners Hospital Salt Lake City after a California deer hunter accidentally shot her through the hip while awaiting a school bus. She has spent months in hospitals and a body cast and doctors hope physical therapy and possible further surgery will restore walking ability.
