Bonner County Adopts Flexible Zoning and Planning Rules
The Bonner County Board of County Commissioners approved a new County Ordinance on May 18 adopting Planning and Zoning Regulations. A public hearing held April 29 explained the rules, with violations punishable by up to 300 dollars fine or six months imprisonment. The key five acre rule classes five-acre parcels as agricultural with no livestock restrictions, and decisions are appealable by writ of mandate. Bonner County is among the first in northern Idaho to adopt such liberal guidelines.

Lake Pend Oreille Level Rises Toward June Peak
A telegram from the Portland office of the Army Corps reports Lake Pend Oreille rose over two feet in a week and sits near 2057.6 feet. Inflows jumped from 3 000 to about 75 000 CFS, outflow remains about 18 000 CFS below inflow. The lake is expected to rise another quarter to half foot daily, reaching 2060 feet in early June and 2062.5 feet by late June.

Bonner County School District Seeks Construction Bids
The Bonner County School District 82 board met to call for bids on new construction at New Farmin and Southside schools. Projects include ten teaching stations and admin complex at New Farmin and six teaching stations with learning center at Southside. Bid opening set for July 22 at 8 p.m.. estimated total cost at least 500000. The Southside site adjoins a gymnasium and heating plant unaffected by the November fire.

Strecker Elected Lions Governor of District 19E
Dale G. Strecker the Sandpoint insurance man has been elected District Governor of Lions International District 19E. The district includes 48 Lions Clubs across Eastern Washington Eastern British Columbia and Northern Idaho. The Spring Conference in Penticton BC on May 23 1970 confirmed the choice. Strecker will serve as a director on the Council of Governors and be installed in Atlantic City NJ July 1 1970 with 540 other new district governors from 48 nations and over a million members. His cabinet will include zone chairman Herb Seel U.S. state not specified.
