Local Girl Wins Outstanding Junior Woman Award at ISU
Carol Ann Ames Bean of Twin Falls Idaho received Idaho State University’s Outstanding Junior Woman of the Year for her student relations maturity graciousness and social tact. She is the daughter of Merle and Ames of Dover. Cecil Carpenter 13 won the Art Prize in the Idaho Federation of Women's Clubs state contest earning $3 and a certificate. He lives with grandparents Kossman in Garfield Bay and plans to be an airplane pilot.

Committee Okays Postal Wage Raise
The Senate Post Office Committee approved an 8 percent postal pay raise and reforms to modernize the mail service. Hadley Ted Hadley valedictorian of Sandpoint High won first at the state level and second nationally in the D A R Junior American Citizen Contest. Burglars Hit Welding Shop in Kootenai County
The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office investigates a burglary at Squeeks Welding in Kootenai County. Entry was gained by ripping off the rear-door padlock with a lever or bar. Only a small cash amount was taken. the shop makes heavy trailers and small plows and was formerly Smith’s Welding.
