Only Bidder Buys Timber in Idaho Auction
Owen L. Raine of Priest River was the sole bidder at an oral auction by the Kaniksu National Forest for the Packer Thinning timber sale nine miles north of Nordman Idaho. The bid of eight thousand nine hundred seventy four dollars and seventy cents covered 665 MBF of sawlogs and 15 MBF of pulplogs dominated by white pine Douglas fir and cedar with minor larch hemlock grand fir.

Nevada prisoner freed, then rearrested in burglary case
James W. Carroll, 46, completed a four year term for burglary and walked out of Nevada State Prison at 9 a.m. on Thursday. He returned to jail six hours later charged with burglary tied to pilfering in state office buildings.
