Buddy Poppies Sale Supports Local Veterans Relief
Commander Lloyd Kester of the VFW Post announced the annual Buddy Poppies sale in Sandpoint. He said more than half of net proceeds stay locally to fund relief and welfare for veterans and their dependents, with the rest supporting the national rehabilitation service. The sale involves volunteers from the post, Ladies Auxiliary, and youth groups, and contributions help the Eaton Rapids Michigan home for widows and orphans. Disabled Vietnam veterans are now benefiting from the sale as well.

Driver Unhurt After Single Vehicle Rolls Near Sandpoint
Dorothea P. Gage of Star At Sandpoint escaped unharmed when her car skidded 257 feet and rolled into a ditch on U S Highway 95 three miles south of Sandpoint. The left rear tire blew, she lost control, the vehicle totaled. she is a Bank of Idaho employee living at Bottle Bay. In a separate item, hospital porter Christopher Bennett, 25, receives a new suit after saving a 7-year-old boy from a river three months earlier.
