Sandpoint Considers Sail Boat Dock Lease at City Beach
The Sandpoint City Council sets a public hearing for May 19 to consider leasing waterfront property near City Beach for a sail boat docking project by Keith Sheckler. U S Forest Service crews have been repairing campgrounds and trails after winter and spring damage. Last weekend vandals sawed hinges from a Green Bay traffic barrier and drove through campgrounds. District Ranger Jerry Stern noted the gate is to deter prior damage and urged campers to reduce vandalism to avoid law enforcement costs.

Lake Pend Oreille Levels Rise as Runoff Continues
The U.S. Army Corps reports Lake Pend Oreille at 2060.8 feet and rising toward 2061 feet, 8.4 feet above minimum pool. Spill gates at Albeni Falls Dam are wide open with the powerhouse shut since May 6 and the lake remains on free flow until runoff ends. Upstream Flathead Lake is filling normally and Lake Kookanoosa behind Libby Dam is rising three feet per day toward full pool by late June or early July.
