Bonner County First to Require Flood Insurance for New Loans
The HUD flood program makes Bonner County eligible with Sandpoint joining March 26. Builders along Lake Pend Oreille shores and rivers such as Rapid Lightning Creek must obtain flood plain insurance to secure mortgages. Insurance caps are $35,000 for single family homes and $100,000 for other buildings at a subsidized 25 cent per $100 rate.

Rescue of Mayaguez Crew Powers Through Koh Tang Fight
UPI reports a 14 hour battle near Koh Tang left at least two Americans dead and several captured as Marines and Air Force crews evacuated the battered assault force. Missing include six Air Force personnel and eight Marines. President Ford ordered air power to drive off Cambodian gunships as Marines recaptured the Mayaguez.

Kidwell urges Corps to limit Idaho water control
