Sunshine Mine Safety Probes Question Fire Drills and Respirators
Idaho assistant attorney general Donald Knickrehm testified that Sunshine Mine likely had no fire drills or respirator instructions before the disaster which killed at least 58. He noted miners panicked on ignition, some stayed in air pockets, and many misunderstood respirator use. Preliminary depositions from survivors are being gathered for bureau investigations.

Police Seek Bad Check Suspect Westmoreland in Idaho
Authorities seek David H. Westmoreland on charges of issuing insufficient checks in Priest River Sandpoint and Coeur d Alene. Death toll climbs to sixty five in Sunshine Mine disaster

Motorcycle Crash Near Texaco Station Injures Rider
Sheriff's records show a Wednesday motorcycle crash near the Texaco station south of town. Leonard Anderson of Sandpoint lost control after leaving the highway, his bike jumped a snow dumping area, and front damage was noted. Anderson, 309 South Boyer, sustained minor injuries and was treated then released.

State Budget In Red As Revenues Fall Short
Idaho Acting Budget Director D E Skip Chilberg warns general fund revenue may total about 121.3 million this year, leaving no surplus for 1973 and forcing some FY 1972 bills to be carried into next year.
