Youth Here Struck By Car in Sandpoint Crosswalk
A 20 year old Sandpoint man James M. Gonzales received minor injuries after being struck by a car while in a Cedar Street crosswalk near Third. Kathleen K. Johnson 26 of Cocolalla drove, unable to see him in heavy traffic at about 4 30 p.m. No citations were issued.

Gasoline Theft and Theft Reported in Idaho Community
Kathlene Eggers of Sagle reported to the Bonner County Sheriff's Office the theft of a little over 12 gallons of gasoline from a wrecker at J&B Service Station across about one month. Neighbor Karen Carlson reported $48 stolen from the glove box of her car late Tuesday. Lanny Back reported a bullet fired into his residence yesterday, located half a mile west of U S Highway 95 on Dufort Road.

Motorcycles Banned From Old Park and Parking Upgrades
The city Traffic Safety Commission voted to ban motorcycles from the old fairgrounds park. Chief George Elliot announced 15 mph limits on Lakeview Blvd and a no motorcycles rule for the park. Slow-bump installations and restrictive parking will be added at the city beach. Parking behind the Chamber of Commerce building will be provided this year with longer term access plans under study.

Beating Case APB Issued For Ben Cole
An all-points bulletin is out for Ben Cole, 19, a Canadian rodeo performer, suspected of robbery and second degree kidnapping in the assault on Gene A Palmer, 41, of Sandpoint. Palmer, a Korean War double amputee, was found tied near Hayden Lake after 30 hours and is hospitalized in Spokane. The incident began in Sandpoint when Palmer asked two men to drive him to Spokane. $500 and an uncashed government check were taken. A 17-year-old Sandpoint youth faces related charges. Palmer is also wanted in Bonner County for defrauding an innkeeper.
