Gov Cecil D Andrus releases a campaign code of ethics promising no foul play in his campaign or opponents. He urges all candidates to follow guidelines to cleanse politics amid Watergate discourse and pledges immediate dismissal for violations.
Channel 6 NBC offers a full day from 6:00 Farm Reports to 10:00 Tonight Show with various programs including Jeopardy, Hollywood Squares, and News. Channel 4 CBS presents CBS Morning News and daytime games. Channel 2 ABC airs soap operas and game shows. Channel 7 Educational lists Sesame Street and Mister Rogers. multiple times and show titles appear with some OCR errors and misprints.
Stella Monroe of Sandpoint died Monday May 6 at Kootenai Memorial Hospital Coeur d Alene. Born Feb 14 1894 in Newton Iowa she homesteaded in Richland County Montana and later lived in Rowan and Sandpoint. Survivors include her daughter Alice Beck two sons Stanley and William plus deceased son Robert and nine grandchildren. Funeral May 8 at 11 from Moon Chapel with Rev Ralph Daugherty First Baptist Church. Interment Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Idaho Governor Butch Andrus announced his candidacy for a second term, pledging continued fiscal responsibility and education emphasis. He highlighted a state surplus up to 20 million, debt-free government, and a 72 percent boost in public school funding to 84.5 million, with tax relief and civil service consolidation among goals. He noted fellow Republican Lt. Gov. Jack Murphy also seeks the nomination.
Frederickson is accused of operating a county landfill from August 3 to 28 without a valid contract and seeks to justify the action as the accepted bidder for a three year garbage collection deal. The complaint alleges predated contract actions and drop box financing disputes, with Lustig urging termination and damages cited at 43,496.
Senator Charles H. Percy says he will not decide on a 1976 GOP presidential bid until after the 1974 elections. He names Gerald Ford as a top prospect and notes Nixon era ties could affect Ford's candidacy. Other possibilities include Rockefeller Reagan Connally Brock Baker Richardson and others.
Irene Brown reports her car stolen from in front of her residence on Euclid in Sandpoint during the night. Police are investigating the theft.
Cattle and calves sale results show early slaughter classes down 1.00 to 3.00 with varied weights. Price ranges include good to choice heifers and young cows from feed lots 31.00 to 36.75, bulls 39.25 to 43.00, and high dressing bulls up to 45.75, with other grades listed.
Mrs Beverly Turner of Star Route Sandpoint said her home was broken into while she attended church and all food was stolen from cupboards. Sandra L Santino of Cocolalla reported a purse stolen from her pickup Thursday night. Mrs Earl Tresbal of Sagle reported a 55 gallon drum of gasoline stolen from a pickup Friday.
