Los Angeles authorities issued an all points bulletin for 22 year old teacher John R Mercell of St Vincent Remign Catholic school after he disappeared with 10 year old Jesse Pinero leaving a tape claiming they would start a new life in Canada due to concerns over the Vietnam War. The boy had been boarding with Mercell and was last seen after school on Friday. Police described Mercell as disturbed and seeking to avoid the draft.
