Dolly Varden weighing 17.5 pounds was caught by Master Sergeant John Kershner at Fairchild AFB. Catches totals will not be published to keep entry fairness. James Mc Clure to speak in Boise Friday. Senator Frank Church to headline Idaho Federation banquet Saturday night. Church may not participate in K and K activities.

Priest River Teen Killed in Road-Construction Crash
Clarence Sheffler, 17, of Priest River died from injuries after a Tuesday night collision at the Thama Rock cuts road project east end. An unidentified pickup or a second vehicle struck him. Edward Watt of Chattaroy, Wash., drove the other pickup. The crash remains under investigation with details pending.

Notice Boile Ups Fire Season Begins Sunday
The closed fire season on all areas of the state outside cities starts this coming Sunday according to State Land Commissioner Trombley. After Sunday it will be unlawful to burn on forest or range lands without a burning permit in possession.

Eight Die In Spokane Family Killed In Crash With Train
Eight members of the James L. Krank family of Spokane died when their car collided with a Burlington Northern train 14 miles east of Spokane. One child, Carla, 8, was in serious condition at Valley General Hospital. Mrs Krank, 36, and six children aged 6 to 17 perished in the crash. the husband, 42, was at home when the accident occurred.

Breakwater and Dredging Finish on Clark Fork River Project
The South Fork Clark Fork River breakwater and delta dredging were completed April 30. The project began March 10 1970 and widened the channel to Johnson Creek Campgrounds for all boats. Fix It Fitzs Construction of Sunnyside Idaho won the contract funded by the Idaho State Waterways Commission and Bonner County.

Claudia Hawkins of Hope Idaho received the Women's Recreational Association Outstanding Senior Woman Award at the University of Idaho award day. A 1970 graduate in Physical Education she has been active in ski field hockey and women's basketball. She held leadership roles in Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and student clubs and taught at Sandpoint High School this winter.
