Kokanee Debate Divides Sandpoint Sportsmen on Fishing
At the Bonner County Sportsmen's Association meeting in Sandpoint a split formed over kokanee numbers in Lake Pend Oreille. Members urged Idaho Fish and Game to reopen the commercial fishery, while biologist Bill Goodnight cautioned against it without clear population proof. The commission signaled possible consideration next year if biologists support a commercial season. In a later vote the club allocated up to 500 dollars to improve the Baldy Road rifle range with new targets a concrete platform and a rain covered shooting bench area.
