Top Iraqi official Takriti killed in Kuwait hospital ambush
Gunmen shot former Iraqi Vice President Hardan Takriti as he exited a Kuwaiti car to enter a hospital for a routine medical check. A Kuwaiti police gunbattle followed. a policeman and a Kuwaiti citizen were injured. Takriti, 52, died later in the hospital. The Iraqi Ambassador to Kuwait, Midhat Ibrahim Jumaa, was present during the attack. The assailants used revolvers and a machine gun.

Idaho House Approves 18 Year Voting Measure
After seven minutes of debate the Idaho House approved 57 to 11 a joint resolution ratifying a U S constitutional amendment lowering the voting age to 18 The move was sent to the Senate Rep John Reardon opposed saying it violates state rights Gov Cecil Andrus had called for the special session to consider ratification alongside his broader agenda House leader Terry Crapo noted that three fourths of states would have to ratify if the measure passes the legislature later considered a separate ballot proposal in regular session though voters would decide that change directly.
