School District 82 Approves Additions for Three Schools
The Board of Trustees approved Washington Northside and Priest River school additions at a special meeting. Architect Robert G. Nelson priced the project around 414000 dollars including fees and opened bids April 25. Washington will gain two classrooms a multi purpose room and staff space. Northside adds three classrooms a teachers workroom and sickroom. Priest River expands gym space with two P.E. stations and new showers.

Four boys questioned after blasting cap injures Sandpoint girl
A six year old Sandpoint child was injured when a blasting cap thrown at a car by four junior high boys exploded near her on a market route home. Fragments lodged in her groin and part remains embedded. Authorities suspended the four boys pending investigation and a conference with parents and the school superintendent.

FDA Reveals Long Kept Hygiene Limits for Food
The FDA disclosed for the first time in 61 years the allowable levels of mold insects rat feces and other natural filth in foods. Officials said the limits were set based on no hazard to health or the food supply. Dr Virgil O Wodicka director of the Bureau of Foods commented on the release.

County approves re zoning of 183 acre Bonner tract
Bonner County commissioners unanimously re zone the triangular 183 acre parcel north of town from suburban agriculture to commercial. The action follows a two part public hearing and stems from Union Pacific Railroad requests and anticipated future development. The site borders the Union Pacific Railroad east, Kootenai Cutoff Road north and Bonners Ferry Highway west and may still host residential use.

Lions Easter Egg Hunt Set for Memorial Field
The Sandpoint Lions Club sponsors an Easter Egg Hunt at Memorial Field on Saturday April 1. Rev James E Doak says more than a thousand eggs will be hidden on the playfield with gold eggs redeemable for money. Lions members should arrive by 8 a.m. for setup and the event starts at 9 a.m.
