Dr Frances Heard a distinguished Idaho woman will speak to the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce on Public Kindergartens in Idaho. She is a noted educator and former WAVE officer who has lobbied for the kindergarten bill now in Idaho’s Legislature. The event followed by a fund raising effort for the Community Float with Miss Sandpoint contestants selling buttons.

Idaho legislators tackle 1972 funds and wage bills
On the 57th day legislators moved amid plans for a Joint Finance Committee meeting as new revenue estimates surfaced. The Senate advanced two minimum wage laws raising the rate to 1.40 by July 1 and to 1.60 by 1972 with exemptions for youth and part timers. A fraternal benefit exemption bill also moved to the governor. In the House a waste disposal and injection well regulation bill passed 50 to 17, to take effect in 1974 under the water administration department. Delia Frisby, 28, wore hot pants to a radiator factory on a dare, drawing spectators as production halted.

Two Men Die In Separate Sandpoint Weekend Crashes
Fred A. Briggs, 79, of Sandpoint, died Friday on Dufort Road near Jim Judge’s home when his car crossed the center line and struck a milk truck driven by Harry Turner of Mead. Frank V. Powell, 22, of Hope, died early Saturday in Sandpoint after his 1963 car rear ended a parked logging truck owned by Richard Stevens at Church and Ella Streets.

Idaho 24th Fatality in Hailey Toll Rises with Linda Race
The Idaho highway toll rose to 24 with Linda Race a 24 year old Twin Falls resident dying in a Boise hospital from injuries after a Thursday one car rollover on U S 93. Race and her 4 year old daughter Tammy were en route to relatives 13 miles south of Bellevue when the crash occurred. The statewide toll stands at 39 this year compared with 42 at the same date last year.
