Truck Crash Near Sandpoint Delays Rail Bridge Traffic

A grain truck went out of control one mile north of Sandpoint and struck guard rails and bridge pilings at the Spokane International Rail overpass. Driver John Bennett of Spokane escaped injury. he was cited for inattentive driving. Rail service resumed after temporary repairs.

Idaho Legislature Faces New Week of Battle

Boise UPI From the Idaho Capitol lawmakers start the second half of the 40th Legislature amid dissension. The House moved seven appropriations to the Senate on Saturday while Senate leaders stand firm on trimming finalization appropriations by about 25 percent from 5.97 million to 4.5 million.

Boy Struck By Vehicle In Spokane Hospitalized

James Forgey of Sandpoint reports his five year old great grandson was struck by a vehicle in Spokane while riding a bicycle Friday evening. The child is unconscious and in critical condition at Holy Names Hospital in Spokane.

A Cessna 195 landed hard in Burley on Saturday causing extensive damage. Pilot Will Daddow of Heyburn and passengers George Kelley, his son Bill Kelley, and Carl Richardson of Albion escaped injury.

North Idaho Junior College Dean's List Honors First Semester

North Idaho Junior College named 150 students on the Dean's List for the first semester including 115 academic and 35 vocational-technical scholars. Kindergarten Issue May Be Seen Again

Boise Idaho. UPI repots Sen. Fred Bagley chair of the Senate Education Committee notes renewed House support for public kindergarten. The Legislature debated surplus spending while amending and killing an earlier kindergarten bill, with Bagley arguing full funding was feasible from surpluses. He warns delay harms Idaho education and that priorities will be set for higher and vocational education and public schools.
