Travel charge defended as necessary to compete for funds
Twin Falls WAPD defends out of state travel as essential to compete for federal monies. A performance audit by Legislative Auditor James A. Defenbach criticized the travel as excessive, recommending sending one or two people instead of many and noting it limited the department's school district consultation program. Engelking countered that eastern districts have immediate access to programs, so staff must attend eastern conferences to obtain needed information.
