Wyoming rancher’s son in court over eagle poisoning case
Natrona County officials charged Lee Irvine with 27 counts including hunting violations and abandoning game animals linked to a predator control program. His father Van Irvine and ranch employee Charlie Wells were charged, with federal game trapper Michael Ryan also named. About 50 eagles have died from thallium sulfate poisoning since May 1, and investigators say carcasses on the Diamond Ring Ranch contained enough poison to kill wildlife. Authorities noted proving the birds fed on bait would be difficult.
