Patient Transfer Planned From State Hospital North
Superintendent Dr. Lida Brown says about 40 patients from State Hospital North in Orofino will be transferred to Blackfoot State Hospital South on June 29. Budget limits force staff layoffs and no new hires, but seniority may allow some Orofino staff to move to Blackfoot to cover gaps. The move aims to reduce the northern facility and ease the southern hospital load while pay raises under Gov. Andrus’ executive order remain budgeted.
