Harvard Medical School senior Barry H. Brooks of Brighton sues to force the university to grant his medical degree after he admits lying on his 1969 admissions form about his parents. He says his parents are alive, cites completed coursework, internship denial, and hardship as grounds for the court to require the degree be conferred.

Fire injures three workers at U and I Sugar plant
A light bulb exploded inside a tank at the U and I Sugar plant in Idaho Falls igniting vapors and coating three workers with tar. Sven Ottesen 28 Sugar City suffered the most serious burns though his condition improved. Earl Stevens 57 Idaho Falls and James Moncur 21 Rigby had minor burns and were treated and released. Paramedics credited company safety measures for saving their lives.

Amish 12 Facing Vandalism Charges in Iowa
About 12 Amish youths aged 17 to 21 in Hazelton, Buchanan County, Iowa, face possible misdemeanor vandalism charges for damage to several farm buildings after recent after-church sings. Deputies will mail summonses for appearances in Independence magistrate court later this month.

Christina Onassis to fund public welfare foundation in memory of Aristotle
Christina Onassis will dedicate half of her late father Aristotle Onassis estate to public welfare projects in Greece and beyond. A legal rep said the foundation will be based in Liechtenstein and focus on education health and other welfare programs, though the estate value was not disclosed. Aristotle Onassis died in Paris from a lung infection and his son Alexander perished in a January 1973 plane crash at Athens airport.
