McClure urges action on rural energy at Sandpoint meeting

US Representative James A. McClure spoke at the Northern Lights Rural Electrification annual meeting in Sandpoint, warning that cheap energy is vanishing and reliability is crucial. He urged faster release of Federal funds for rural cooperatives and forest highways while endorsing the REA financed lines and stressing the need for prudent, eco friendly energy policy. Miners recount seven day survival after Sunshine Mine fire

Parks Board Considers Expo 74 Expansion Plans

Idaho Parks and Recreation Board toured Priest Lake areas including Indian Creek and Mosquito Bay to assess future development for Expo 74. Farragut and Round Lake state parks are eyed for impact, with Farragut slated for 100 new camps under a half million dollar master plan. local citizens urged higher use fees and support for park expansions while the board approves 35000 in matching funds for Sandpoint Beach and discusses joint school park programs.
