Corps of Engineers inspects Pend Oreille shoreline for illegal structures
Seattle District engineers began shoreline inspections along Pend Oreille Lake upstream of Albeni Falls Dam on July 20 to enforce navigable waters rules under the Rivers and Harbor Act. Structures such as bulkheads landfills pilings jetties boat ramps mooring buoys pipes require federal permits. Violations will be halted until permits are obtained with guidance available from the Albeni Falls Dam project office and Seattle Operations Division. A second notice reports Congress scheduling a 25 day recess starting August 14 while Senate plans a shorter recess around Labor Day.

Missing patient Gary Hanson sought after at Orofino State Hospital
Authorities say Gary Hanson, a voluntary patient at Orofino's State Hospital, is missing. Hanson previously walked away in June and was spotted behind the Bonner County Courthouse while trying to reclaim a car held by deputies. Sheriff Wilcox issued an all points bulletin for his detention.

WAVE Trains In Maryland Graduation Noted
Darryl Lnn Walson daughter of Mr and Mrs Darrell Wal son completed ten weeks of basic training at Recruit Training Command Women Naval Training Center Bainbridge Maryland and was graduated during a military review held on July 10. She will spend a 14 day leave before reporting to Naval Training Center San Diego for Dental Technician school. The Sandpoint WAVE enlisted at Navy Recruiting Station Sandpoint Idaho for three years and was sworn in at Navy Recruiting Station Spokane Washington on April 30 1970.
