Bonner County discusses Boyer Avenue U S 95 cutoff route

The Bonner County Board of Commissioners held a public meeting to weigh an abandoned Popsicle Stick Road option in favor of a new Boyer Avenue U S 95 link. Bicycle Fall Injures Child in Kootenai

John Travers seven of Kootenai was seriously hurt when his bicycle hit a driveway rock and he was thrown to the ground. He suffered a fractured skull and multiple abrasions and was taken to Bonner County General Hospital in satisfactory condition.

Vandals Strike Newport Telephone Office

The General Telephone Company office in Newport Washington was vandalized late last night. Roy Clark manager notes vandalism of the building exterior. The Bonner County sheriff reports this act is part of a recent spike in such vandalism in the Newport to Sandpoint area.

United Press International reports a Thursday evening thunderstorm sparked 76 fires in eastern Washington northern Idaho and western Montana mostly under a quarter acre Harold Harris Nez Perce Forest notes 27 spot fires across the northern forest Elmer Fine Colville says 10 spot fires all lightning caused two fires grew to 20 acres and retardant bombers from Missoula MT were assigned with refuel stops at Coeur d Alene ID.

Boise Storm Leaves Boise Beach Area Damaged

A sudden Boise downtown storm knocked down trees and power lines with about 1000 customers losing service. KATN radio tower fell 200 feet causing about 10000 dollars in damages, repairs to resume soon.
