Council Delays Cable TV Contract Decision in Sandpoint
The Sandpoint City Council postponed action on a 20 year cable TV contract with a California firm seeking rapid approval. Mayor Gray said a report from 14 Idaho cities will guide the decision after consulting the Boise area study. The firm urged two year free start and later a 2 to 3 percent fee as subscriptions grow.

Drug Arests Bring $5000 Bonds For Two
Elizabeth Massing and Cindy Howland both 18 to 21 were arrested Saturday in Priest River on charges of possession of a dangerous drug. Bond set at $5000 each. Arraigned in Justice Court with preliminary hearing not yet scheduled. Sheriff’s office noted they are held in separate Bonner County Jail female quarters pending bond.

Lions Install New Officers in Sandpoint Banquet
The Sandpoint Lions Club held its installation banquet at the Trawlers Motel in Sandpoint on Saturday July 11. District Governor Dale Strecker officiated as installation officer and the 1970 71 officers include Wayne Hook as president and Gene Chamberlain as treasurer with other roles listed. A Lion of the Year award went to Dale Pelton for work with youth and founding the LEO Club. multiple members received additional awards for duties with flags Toys for Tots Easter egg hunts and citizen appreciation.

St. Regis Paper Company of Libby Montana was the low and only bidder at a June 29 1970 oral auction for the Bear Quartz timber sale on the Kaniksu National Forest. The sale near Clark Fork Idaho covers white pine with other species and bids $513372.40 for 18590 MBI sawlogs and 5330 MBF pulplogs. Award sent from the Regional Forester office in Missoula Montana.
