Crash Claims Five Idahoans
Washington State Patrol identified five victims of a Thursday car train crash near the Idaho Washington line. The deceased include Laura L. Dalley 18 Gloria J. Benham 14 Virginia Benham 4 Curtis Daley 2 from Post Falls Idaho and Ronald J. Cooper 16 from Coeur d Alene. The collision occurred when the car struck the side of a Burlington Northern freight train at the intersection of Washington Highway 290 and Idaho Road just west of the state line.

Boy Hurt At Memorial Field Tripped Into Baseball Machine
A ten year old Sandpoint boy was treated and released at Sacred Heart Hospital Spokane after tripping and falling into a pitching machine at War Memorial Field near the stands. Jerry Crosswhite suffered a head injury and was later sent to Sacred Heart amid skull fracture fears. Sandpoint fire chief Wade Brown transported him to Bonner General Hospital for initial care.
