Youth suffers injuries after motorcycle crash near Sandpoint

Frederick McNair Williams reports a 17 year old rider on U S 95 near the Bonners Ferry Highway crashed at about 3 p m. The youth was dragged by the kickstand into a metal guardrail after losing control at roughly 50 mph. He wore a crash helmet and sustained a broken foot and arm with foot abrasions.

Weather Outlook for Sandpoint Idaho

Sandpoint will be sunny today with hot conditions and a slight chance of rain. Tonight and Saturday include scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms with light to moderate chances of showers, and highs around 90. Northern Idaho from Sunday to Tuesday stays warm to hot with partly cloudy skies and scattered thundershowers in the afternoons and evenings, cooler by Tuesday.

Timber Sales Monday Near Chewelah and Trout Creek

Georgia-Pacific bid 88 655 60 for 6135 MBF of sawlogs in the Chewelah area auctioned by Kaniksu National Forest. Clark Fork Logging led the Minton Peak sale eight miles west of Trout Creek with 1780 MBF sawlogs and 220 MBF pulp logs valued at 10 710 25 after raising from 10 455 25. Durable Timber Products of Trout Creek was the only other bidder.

Driver Cited In Car Mishap In Sandpoint

Francis E. Hiatt, 25, of Sandpoint, involved in a one car crash on I-95 with $1000 damage. He received citations for inattentive driving and failure to display a Idaho license after his car left the northbound shoulder, hit a tree on a four foot embankment, traveling 45 mph. no injuries reported. Trooper Ron Bruce investigated for the Idaho State Police.

FBI Fugitive Seen In Idaho

UPI reports federal fugitive H. Rap Brown was spotted at the Taco Time Cafe in Pocatello around 3 20 p.m. A waitress identified him from photographs and police were alerted. Brown reportedly left before officers arrived as a waitress confirmed the photo match. Police tracked a gray California plated car turning west on Interstate 15 and state police set road blocks near an overpass at American Falls, but the suspect diverted.
