Idaho Escapee Kenneth Yeomans Returned by Police
Idaho State Police Bonner County Sheriff and Sandpoint police arrested Kenneth Yeomans 24 of Bonners Ferry after he escaped Boundary County Jail. He held trustee status and was allowed to drive and carry funds before the escape. He was seized at 11 15 p m at a Sandpoint cocktail lounge and his red sedan with Washington plates was later towed for ownership check. Officers included Deputy Sheriff Jerry Myers State Trooper Ron Buce and Sandpoint officers W Piehl and C E Holt.

Tourist Receives Courteous Sandpoint Welcome
A St Paul tourist in Sandpoint praised Sandpoint Police Chief and crew for careful curb painting near his parked car. The visitor returned to find the Chief supervising the paint squad to avoid splashes. He thanked the city and even considered Sandpoint as a retirement spot, not California.

Blood Mobile Planned in Sandpoint July Seventh
The Blood Mobile will operate at the Community Hall from 2 p.m. to 5 30 p.m. on Tuesday July 7 to accept whole blood donations from local residents. Spokane Blood Bank reports 90 units have been used by Bonner County residents since January 1 and urges donors as a strong need persists.

July Fourth Holiday Traffic Toll Forecast
United Press International reports that 560 to 660 Americans may lose their lives and 27 000 to 31 000 may suffer disabling injuries in traffic during the July weekend. The holiday runs 78 hours from 6 p.m. tonight to midnight Sunday. In 1969, 609 people died in road accidents during the Fourth of July period.

Waterways commission tests coffin vault pumps for cheap pump houses
Bonner County Waterways Commission plans to use seven foot coffin vaults as pump houses for lake Sewage systems. Ted Farmin says concrete boxes are watertight strong and easy to install with ample circulation around the pump. Tests are underway on Lake Pend Oreille to save time and labor in building pump houses. In a separate note Douglas Isle of Man Robert Cannon 68 dies choking on chewing gum per coroner’s inquest.
