March Of Dimes Radio Auction Starts Monday

The March of Dimes Radio Auction runs January 26 27 and 28 in Idaho with Beta Sigma Phi KSPT and the Northwest General Telephone. Bids by phone 263 4757 from 7 30 to 10 09 each night. Auctioneers are Ken Crandall Dick Healen and Jack Popplewell. Proceeds benefit March of Dimes with most funds earmarked for Bonner County Northern Idaho. Donations accepted via Mrs Richard Neuder after 5 02 p m. Event at Sandpoint Elks Club with merchandise dropped at the Elks Club each afternoon or during the auction.

Idaho Senate committee to decide HB304 Friday

The Senate Local Government and Taxation Committee will likely vote on Friday whether to recommend passage of HB304 to repeal the four percent tax increase limit in the Idaho Property Tax Equalization Law. Sen. Wayne Kidwell says the panel is studying approaches to street maintenance and rebuilding crises, with input sought from the Idaho Association of Cities.

Bill to Aid Indians of Idaho Wyoming and Utah

Rep. Laurence J. Burton introduces a bill to give 15.7 million dollars to Shoshone Indians of Utah Idaho and Wyoming for consolidated claims against the federal government. Utah tribes would receive about 3.8 million with the rest split equally between Idaho and Wyoming groups.

Free Skijoring Races Tonight at Memorial Field Sandpoint

Unusual skijoring event set for Memorial Field in Sandpoint starting at 7:30 p m. The Schweitzer Ski Bums sponsor the races featuring top local skiers and snowmobile tow during a short course. Public admission is free during Winter Carnival Week.

Chairlift Rides Free For Non-Skiers At Schweitzer Basin

Tomorrow Friday Schweitzer Basin will offer free chairlift rides for non skiers to the Big Bowl to admire the Lake Pend Oreille and surrounding peaks despite possible fog. Regular skiers continue as usual. Also Friday and Saturday young skiers age 12 and under may use the rope tow for free as National Ski Week winds down in a Schweitzer Ski Bums Winter Carnival tie in.
