Police seize 20 year old for pretending officer bribe scheme

A 20 year old messenger for Western Union was arrested after authorities say he flashed a red light on a Volkswagen to stop drivers, then demanded bribes to tune their tickets. Ernesto Pantoja faces charges of impersonating an officer giving false information attempted armed robbery and possession of stolen property.

Eagles 66th Anniversary Set by Sandpoint Aerie

Worthy President James Stark announces Sandpoint Aerie 589 Fraternal Order of Eagles will mark its 66th year in the Grand Aerie on Sunday January 25 with a 1 p.m. potluck dinner. Coeur d Alene officers of 486 will initiate the anniversary class of candidates. Sponsors should bring their candidates to participate.

Gold N Grouse 4 H Club Holds January Meeting

The Gold N Grouse 4 H Club met January 10 after a sledding party and chili feed at Bob Wood’s home. Officers will be elected February 20 and meetings will continue on the third Friday at 8 p.m. A committee will meet with Pack River Grange about hall use. Dan Wood Ruby Fickett Dan Lund Kathy Puckett Sandy Lund serve on the committee and as co reporters. James McNall becomes Beef Leader Delbert Wood Horse Leader Jim Wood co leader for both projects. Members urged to keep records and attend Club Congress. Fat Steer participants told to feed for the pre show. Meeting adjourned.

Beaver County Credit Union Board Declares 5.2 Percent Dividend

Beaver County Cooperators' Credit Union announces a 5.2 percent dividend. Warren Lutey, president, reports 38 new members and 163 loans totaling 196 684 dollars this year. Since formation, 145 403 loans amount to 1 838 728 dollars through 1969. Lutey says patrons of Co op Gas and Supply can join.

Sheriff's Log Shows Arson Guilty Plea and Marijuana Sentence

Dale Wilcox pled guilty to second degree arson in District Court and a burglary charge was dismissed after a pre sentence investigation was ordered with sentencing set for February 2. Harold Jones appeared for sentencing on marijuana possession and received a two year sentence suspended with conditions.

Nifty Knitters Hold January Meeting

The ninth meeting of the Nifty Knitters was held January 13 at Mrs Bourne’s home with 14 of 18 members present. Members completed their projects. The 10th meeting was canceled due to bad roads and school closure. The next regular meeting is January 27 at the Yarn Shop.
