Logging Roads Under Attack in Idaho Forests

It urged timber yarding that lengthens road distance, more closures after logging, and slash cleanup, and criticized the timber industry for pressuring the Service to loosen controls. The action was sent to state leaders and Forest Service officials. It arose from a Palouse timber sale dispute where independent soils science supported the agency’s road-density limits.
