Moore registers as education dept lobbyist in Idaho

Ezra Moore, forced to resign from the Idaho State Department of Education on Jan. 10, registered as a legislative lobbyist listing the department as his employer. Board president J.P. Munson called the move unusual and said the board did not want Moore acting as its lobbyist. Roy Truby, who became superintendent Jan. 6, had Moore resign or be fired. Moore also serves as unpaid lobbyist for the Idaho Association of School Superintendents.

Kidwell Seeks More Authority Over State Attorneys

Idaho Attorney General Wayne L. Kidwell told the Joint Finance Appropriations Committee that only 14 of 46 state hired lawyers operate under his control and many are contract or assistant staff. He proposed a 13.8 percent general fund increase and a litigation fund to cover cases needing special expertise or avoiding conflicts. He aims to shift toward in house counsel and rebuild the Bureau of Organized Crime as an intelligence unit rather than a cops and robbers force.

Pocatello Girl Named Idaho Junior Miss

Ann Sharp 17 daughter of Dr and Mrs Merrill J Sharp was chosen Idaho Junior Miss at the University of Idaho. She won a 500 dollar scholarship and a 150 dollar scholastic achievement award and will compete at the National Junior Miss Pageant in Mobile Alabama next spring. Runners up Kay Tones Laura Lea Olson Janice Chandler and Pamela Folkman won 250 200 150 and 100 dollar scholarships respectively.

Governor Cecil Andrus cites Idaho strength in 1974 and projections for 1975 based on agriculture mining and forestry. Personal income rose 14.7 percent in the first half of 1974, with high retail sales and tax collections. Population growth remains robust and in migration is expected to continue.

Credit Proposed for Idaho Grocery Tax by Senate Panel

Boise Idaho Senate Local Government and Taxation Committee approved a permanent twenty dollar grocery tax credit. Sponsor Sen Edith Miller Klein said the measure would apply to all residents and reduce state revenue by about fourteen million dollars.
