Horsemen Name New Officers

The Bonner County Horsemen's Association met Jan. 8 at the Northern Lights hostess room and elected three board members Bill Clark Randy Curless and Mrs Don Lund. The board named Jim Wood president Bill Clark vice president and Mrs Don Lund secretary treasurer for 1971.

Dry cows should not lose weight before calving

University of Idaho extension dairy specialist George Cleveland advises keeping dry cows lean and active and feeding the same forage and grain mix as after calving, with adjusted amounts to raise protein and reduce energy. He warns of a stress period if feed types change, and suggests gradually increasing grain from about one percent of body weight daily to two percent as production peaks.
